About us
Caring for animals across Leeds and WakefieldMaking a difference
Since our branch was founded in 2003 when the Leeds & Wakefield branch merged, we have been committed to providing care to animals in need around the Leeds and Wakefield area. When an animal needs care we provide it a place to heal, when they need a home we find them a loving family.
In the past 5 years alone we have cared for just under 1500 animals and we are committed to growing that number as much as we can to ensure we continue giving as many animals in the Leeds & Wakefield area the second chance they deserve.

Help us give them a second chance
Who are we
Every day, our incredible team of passionate volunteers and dedicated staff provide love, safety and a second chance to animals who have been unwanted, abandoned or mistreated. From the moment they arrive, we work tirelessly to give them the care they deserve and to find them the forever homes. Whether our staff/volunteers are in our animal centre, one of our shops or at an event, they are making a difference to our animals.
What we do
In the past 5 years we've cared for just under 1500 animals alone! On average, an animal can stay in our care for 57 days. That's nearly 1400 hours of love and care for each animal that needed a new home. Our work involves both the care and nurturing of animals but it also involves raising funds to keep our work going and improving. Without the support of our local community, we wouldn't be able to continue our work.
Our story
In the last 25 years that we've been a branch we've now got 26 employees and over 200 volunteers, moved location multiple times, nearly had to close the doors to our animal centre due to lack of funds, and rehomed thousands of animals. Before 2001, we were two separate branches in Leeds & Wakefield with lots of wonderful stories to share with you.
