Today marks the launch of our #CloseToHome campaign championing Legacy Giving in your local area.
We want to open up the conversation around making your will, and why it’s so rewarding to include a donation to a local charity like ours.
Your donations, big or small, sustain our charity for years to come and makes sure we can continue our vital services to support animals in the local area … including yours! That’s right, through our #ForeverPaws scheme we support your pets in the instance that you or a loved one passes away and our team cares for them until they find a new loving home.
During the month of September we will be sharing information on legacy giving and how you can support us for years to come as part of our #CloseToHome campaign. We want to encourage open conversations about the importance of writing a will, and the impact your money can have in the third sector well into the future if you donate to a local charity like ours.
We will be sharing resources, stories and information about the amazing work made possible by legacy giving and how supporting us not only helps rescues but local pets too! Alongside our Animal Centre where we care for amazing dogs, cats and rabbits until they find their forever homes, we also run Berties grooming Salon and our Off-lead for local dogs.
We can only continue these schemes and all of our vital services thanks to the generosity of donors in the area, and Legacy Giving is a huge support for a branch of our size. In coordination with Remember A Charity week next week, we have dedicated this whole month to showing you the huge impact your generosity can have on changing the lives of local rescues and our branch as a whole.
As part of your will, we also encourage you to decide what happens to your pet if you are no longer around to look after them. We understand that contemplating what might happen to your furry friends without you can be overwhelming, so we introduced our #ForeverPaws scheme to ensure your dog, cat or rabbit can stay close to home and find loving carers if something happens to you. Our CEO Caroline rescued from our branch, and has signed up her cats to the Forever Paws scheme because “as a pet owner, I do worry what will happen to my cats if I die and they are left alone. Joining this scheme gives me peace of mind that they will be cared for and find new loving homes”.
A will is one of the most important documents you will ever sign. After you have looked after your loved ones, we hope what we share this month will encourage you to also look locally and make a donation #CloseToHome to support the future of the RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield and District branch.
