Rehoming Animals

Adopting A Pet

We have many dogs, cats and rabbits in our care here at your local RSPCA branch Animal Centre, who are all looking for loving permanent homes. Look at our animal pages for more information on all the lovely furry friends that we are currently caring for!

All successful adoptions will be subject to a home visit and meet & greets with the animal. We ask that all adoptees:
  • Have access to a secure garden, especially when adopting a dog
  • Live away from busy or unsuitable roads, especially when adopting a cat
  • Live in a house (not a flat) and, if renting, be able to provide written permission from their landlord
  • If adopting a kitten, are available throughout the day
  • Have their current pets up to date with vaccinations
We are open from 11am - 3pm daily, except for Wednesdays, for animal viewings. Please do come along if you are interested in adopting an animal from us!

Please note although we are now at our Animal Centre and are happy for you to come along and view our animals, a constant stream of strange faces and visitors will often unsettle and disrupt our dogs. Most are survivors of abuse, neglect and suffering and so need a calm and quiet environment. Because of this we ask that all visitors report to reception so that a member of our Animal Care Team can come along and have a chat with you regarding your needs.

The dog that you wish to view will  then be brought down to the Visitor Centre Arena for the viewing, which is a neutral environment for both you and the dog, and can give you the best possible meet and greet with your new canine friend!

Similarly, if you are interested in adopting a cat from us, please report to reception. A member of the Animal Care Team will then come along and accompany you to the cattery.

Thank you for your understanding.

Adult Dogs: 110.00

Puppies: 125.00

Kittens (under 6 months): 80.00

Adult Cats: 70.00

Rabbits: 35.00

When adopting a dog or puppy you must bring with you a suitable lead, collar/harness and engraved ID tag with name, address and contact telephone number.

The donation is only a small fraction of the cost of what the branch will spend on the animals whilst in our care. All the animals that we rehome are fully vaccinated, neutered, micro-chipped, health checked and they also come with 4 or 6 weeks free insurance. We also carry out a pre-adoption home visit for our animals to ensure that we are rehoming them into a suitable environment where they will be happy for the rest of their lives
